Open call for nominations: IB Alliance Board & Committee Chairs, for the 2020-2021 school year
Would you like to serve on the Hillsborough High School - IB Alliance Board? We still have some openings for next school year and welcome all IB parents/guardians to apply. This is a great opportunity to help students and get more connected with the school and other parents. Nominations close April 13, 2020, so apply today!
- Learn more about the IB Alliance (the volunteer parent-teacher organization for the HHS IB program), and read the board position descriptions on the IB Alliance tab above and then click on IB Alliance Bylaws. The Events Committee is a newly created non-voting committee and volunteers who apply for positions on that committee are not required to attend our regular board meetings. Volunteers who would like to serve on this committee should be able to help with a small number of events during the school day throughout the year as well as several evening events.

An Important message from Mrs. Fitzgerald
Dear IB Students and Families,
Thank you for being patient as we continue to push through this new challenge. After multiple meetings with the IB Faculty we have come up with an IB E-Learning Guideline for IB students (see attachments). Each teacher will tailor this plan to fit their own personal teaching style. Each teacher may request students to use various learning platforms to deliver instruction, so it is critical that students check Edsby regularly and communicate with their teachers.
We have structured the school week to allow students ample time to learn new lessons, interact with their teacher and their classmates, complete assignments and assessments. Each lesson will include a teacher interaction, an assignment followed by an assessment. Students may need to participate in video conferences and/or chats, as some teachers will assign participation points for student interaction. Each teacher has been asked to post an updated syllabus to their Edsby page by Thursday so that their expectations are clearly outlined to ensure student success in each class. Edsby will still serve as the platform to check grades and monitor progress.
IB Seniors- as you know IB exams scheduled for May 2020 have been canceled. As of this moment, IB will use your Internal Assessments marks, Oral Marks for both English and your Foreign Language, ToK Essay/presentation marks, EE grade, Portfolios (Art students only) to assess your final mark for your IB course. As IB releases more information, I will send it out. It is imperative that you finish strong and submit your IA's using your teacher feedback to help achieve the highest marks possible. IB Seniors will also continue to work through May since IB Exams have been canceled. IB Seniors need to continue their E-Learning and will earn a forth quarter grade from their teacher.
The quickest way to access any teacher is via Edsby or district email. Myself and Mrs. Morter are also available for any assistance. We know that we are entering a new way of learning and we are all going to have to learn how to navigate this style of teaching and learning. Please be patient and communicate questions and/or concerns. Additionally, all IB Homeroom teachers will call every IB student to check that they have an electronic device to support this new way of learning and ensure each student has access to the Internet. Please communicate your needs with us so that we can provide the tools necessary.
