How to apply:
Interested 8th-grade students may apply to the IB Magnet Program at Hillsborough High through the Hillsborough County School Choice program.
The application window for magnet high school programs is October 25, 2019 – December 31, 2019. Families will be notified of their application status in mid-February. All students, including students new to HCPS, must apply online for the 2020-21 school year. Parents will access the Choice/Magnet application page by going to the HCPS website and entering “go magnet” in the search bar. They will be directed to the Magnet/Choice website where they will click the “APPLY” button.
Families will then be given two options: one for HCPS students (must have student ID number, last four digits of the student’s social security number and student’s birth year). The other option will say “I am new to Hillsborough County Public Schools” (for current private school students). Current HCPS families will verify their student’s information, including address. Please make sure that the address on file is your correct address. If your address needs to be updated, you must update your address (with proper documentation) at your child’s current school. The residential address will determine both school and transportation options. Families new to Hillsborough County Public Schools will need to enter their Residential Address, as well as some Student Information. Please ensure you enter the correct/accurate residential address.
All families will then proceed through the application process by following the prompts. Please make sure that your email address in the system/on the application is entered correctly as that is how you will be contacted.
If your student has been continuously enrolled at a HCPS school since the 6th grade, the Office of Student Placement will have access to their records. If your student has NOT been continuously enrolled in the HCPS since the 6th grade you will need to provide the district with the necessary academic and standardized test information. You will do this by clicking on the link to “print a transcript form for magnet high schools.” Please follow the instructions on the printed form to have your student’s transcripts sent to HCPS.
When you get to the end of the application and click “submit,” an application confirmation will be sent to the email address that was included in the application.
